I am posting a little early this week verses on Monday!
I do want to wish you all a Happy Valentine's Day!
Be sure to give that special loved one a big hug!
If you find yourself alone this Valentines...
There are many in the local nursing home or hospital
who would love a special visit from you!
It is amazing when we give out of our need,
How much better we feel!
Happy Valentine's Day!
Big thumbs up for movie goers!
In the movie, all the cards were stacked against this Russian Spy, but Tom Hanks believed every one deserved a fair trial under our judicial system. The Russian man was unemotional most of the time which worried Tom Hanks, the attorney.
He would ask him..."Aren’t you worried?"
The Russian man would answer so calmly..."Would it help?"
Throughout the movie this was a common exchange of words. I could not help but giggle at their conversation...but deep inside I thought the Russian gentleman was so right. He gets it! Why worry...would it change anything?
It truly becomes an act of trust and faith in the Lord. Either I am going to believe what the scripture says and just do it! Or...I am going to continue to wallow in my own anxious, worrisome nature. I truly choose PEACE!
"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
If I stand on my own and are anxious about my problems, I only add years to my life, which can cause me to have high blood pressure, depression, and other ailments. If I learn to take everything to God in prayer and leave it at his feet, maybe I can relieve some of those worries. I realize it does not take all the circumstances away in an instant, but it is an act of relieving myself of the burden I am carrying and placing it in God's hands.
Supplication is a wonderful part of praying for by doing so I am praying on the behalf of others. The prayer of supplication is generally a request for the person I may be praying for. When I take my thoughts off myself and pray for others, I find that my grumblings are not worth grumbling about. By praying for others, I have taken the focus off my own worries.
When the world seems to be falling apart all around me, I can still praise God for all the good that exists. Finding something that is good may take a little effort, especially when so many things seem dark. It may be as simple as knowing I took a breath this morning and was given one more day. Looking into the eyes of my grandchildren, knowing they hold the key to the future, may bring me hope. Think on good things that are true, noble, and right! We may have to step back from any negativity that our little eyes take in on a daily basis. Give our hearts and minds a break!
It is amazing how much negative buzz can affect us! We truly have no idea that it is penetrating into our souls and causing us to worry needlessly. I had to step back from Facebook recently as there was so much negativity and I could not seem to scroll past it fast enough. Our eyes are like cameras, taking quick shots, of everything we see. I realized that I was taking in all the emotional garbage of others.
Sometimes we have to fill ourselves with good and lovely thoughts and it is our job to do it! No one is responsible for making us feel better, it is up to us to fill our hearts with positive vibrations.
If we find ourselves being offended by others, I think we have given them way too much power over us. We have to find things that are worthy of praise and of good report. We must dwell on those things! It does not say to think on them for a second but to literally DWELL on them and practice this art of positive thinking.
This tells me...it is not a natural thing for us humans to do. We must exercise our thinking daily!
"Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you."
Tom Hanks: "Don't you ever worry?"
Russian Spy: "Would it help?"
